Industrial Explosives
• Environmental impact and mitigation planning for San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge East Span Replacement Project. MMCG prepared a marine life mitigation plan for this project. The proposed project was to involve demolishing bedrock with over 50,000 pounds of explosives to prepare for new bridge supports, then demolishing old supports with even more explosives. MMCG determined that the use of such volumes of explosives could have severe impacts and recommended safer means of accomplishing project objectives;

• Explosives modeling for San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge East Span Replacement Project. MMCG prepared an acoustic model to predict safe zones for marine mammals, sea turtles, sea birds, and fish during the proposed use of explosives;

• Preparation of wildlife protection plan for the use of explosives during the removal of Arco’s Bird Island (PRC421) off Ellwood, California;

• Design and implementation of marine mammal, sea turtle, sea bird, and fish protection plan for demolition of Mobil’s Seacliff Pier Complex northwest of Ventura, California;

• Acoustic modeling, measurements and monitoring during demolition of Mobil’s Seacliff Pier Complex northwest of Ventura, California;

• Design and implementation of marine mammal, sea turtle, sea bird, and fish mitigation, Chevron's 4H Platform Decommissioning Project, Santa Barbara, California;

• Acoustic detection and deterrence of marine mammals during Chevron's 4H Platform Decommissioning Project, Santa Barbara, California;

• Proprietary studies for Chevron on the effects of explosives on marine fish and invertebrates during the demolition of four oil platforms (4H Platform Decommissioning Project), Santa Barbara, California;

• Proprietary studies of acoustic sound pressure levels encountered during the demolition of four oil platforms off Santa Barbara, California;

• Marine mammal, sea turtle, sea bird, and fish mitigation planning and implementation, Case Foundation's explosive removal of riser platform for ocean outfall, San Diego, California;

• Marine mammal, sea turtle, sea bird, and fish mitigation and monitoring, Chevron's explosive removal of wellhead OCS 215 #1, Oxnard, California.
